Coastside Cohousing Secures Land in Santa Cruz County
Coastside Cohousing has reached an exciting milestone with the successful purchase of a 13.6-acre property in Santa Cruz County, setting the stage for a new, intentionally designed neighborhood focused on connection, sustainability, and aging well in community. The future community will blend privately owned homes with shared spaces—including a Common House—while preserving more than half of the site for open space and conservation. With pedestrian-friendly design, cars kept to the periphery, and shared spaces designed to invite everyday interaction, Coastside Cohousing is creating a place where neighbors can truly know and support one another.
The community will be guided by experienced cohousing professionals, including renowned cohousing expert and Creating Cohousing author Katie McCamant, with design workshops led by Gunkel Architecture. Coastside Cohousing will host a public Kickoff Workshop on January 17–18, 2026, inviting interested individuals to learn more about the cohousing process and explore becoming part of the founding group.
